The material
Birch is a light wood species with a grain pattern that can range from completely smooth to richly figured. It is one of the most common types of wood in Sweden and is used in nearly all of our furniture collections. Birch is moderately hard and durable, offering extensive possibilities for surface treatments thanks to its smooth, structure-free surface, which makes it ideal for lacquering and painting. More than 75% of our birch comes from Sweden and has grown for 70–80 years before becoming furniture timber.
Pinnockio is a neat and beautiful spindle chair designed by Yngve Ekström, originally in Stolab's range during the 1950s and 1960s. Relaunched as a tribute to one of the greats in Swedish furniture design. Seven tapering back spindles meet in a solid top piece. Stable legs that screw into the seat. Made in solid birch at Stolab's factory in Smålandsstenar, Sweden.
