Norwegian seafood traditions are at the heart of Lofoten. The restaurant follows the seasons of the sea, bringing together the classic and the contemporary – from traditional Norwegian seafood to modern dishes featuring fish, shellfish and mussels. It is a restaurant that remains true to its origins and history while continuing to evolve.

The same appreciation for tradition, materials and longevity can be found in the restaurant’s interior. In this warm and inviting setting, the Pal chair has found its place, crafted from solid oak with a natural oil finish and upholstered in beautiful leather. The natural oil allows the grain and individual character of the oak to come through, while the leather adds warmth and softness. Materials designed to live, age gracefully and develop a character of their own over time.

Pal was designed by Mathieu Gustafsson with the idea of creating a chair that interacts naturally with its surroundings. Mathieu compares Pal to the drummer in a band – the one who may not always take centre stage, but who holds everything together and sets the rhythm. An approach particularly well suited to a restaurant setting, where the furniture should contribute to the experience without drawing attention away from the space, the food and the people.

Pal’s design is defined by a consistent flat-oval profile – a shape somewhere between round and rectangular – which is repeated throughout the chair to create a cohesive character. Its carefully considered proportions and understated expression make Pal easy to integrate into a wide variety of architectural and interior settings.
